Windsor College

As a LAT trust school, we believe in a small school model of education that delivers high quality pastoral care. In this case, students who are successful in joining Leigh Academy Rainham’s sixth form will be a member of Windsor College. The name of the college derives from Elizabeth Windsor; the longest serving monarch in British History.

Elizabeth Windsor’s personal and professional attributes included:

• Being a Symbol of Duty and Service: Queen Elizabeth II was globally admired for her unwavering sense of duty and public service throughout her 70-year reign. Naming the college Windsor—after the royal family name—reflects a commitment to developing students who embody responsibility, leadership, and service to the community.
• Dedication to Lifelong Learning: The Queen consistently promoted the value of education and self-improvement, both through her own work and by supporting institutions like the Royal Society and hundreds of educational charities. A sixth form bearing the Windsor name would reinforce the importance of continuous learning and intellectual curiosity.
• Global Respect and Diplomacy: Queen Elizabeth II was one of the most respected figures on the world stage, known for her diplomacy and unifying presence across the Commonwealth and beyond. The name Windsor College would inspire students to cultivate global awareness, cultural understanding, and respectful leadership.
• Stability and Resilience: Through decades of social, political, and technological change, the Queen provided steadfast leadership and stability. The college name would represent these values, encouraging students to remain resilient, adaptable, and principled—traits essential for academic and personal success.
