University & Employment Tutor Programme [UETP] 

‘We strongly advocate developing a student’s sense of the world outside of the classroom, developing curiosity, ambition, and global awareness. We are proud of the supportive environment and sense of community which exists within the sixth form and the academy itself. We will offer our students structure and support in planning and writing personal statements, which helps our students to make informed decisions about their future Post 18. 

Bespoke UCAS, apprenticeship, and employability sessions will also be included in our sixth form personal development programme to enable students to choose the right pathway for them and prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Students will also benefit from dedicated personal tutors, who will offer tailored advice and guidance in order to help students progress within their chosen careers.

Our two-year personal development programme will be designed to prepare students for the rigour of post-16 study and prepare them for the world of work and offer a programme of RSHE and PSHE that enables them to make sensible and informed decisions on their own futures.’

Senior Student Leadership Team [SSLT]

‘Throughout their journey here in sixth form, all students have the opportunity to make a difference. We expect our learners to be active participants in their own right. We have several opportunities for students to voice and participate in the wider school community. 

Leigh Academy Rainham sixth form students are encouraged to apply for positions in the Senior Student Leadership Team; a role that will involve: engaging with students across the academy. Student leadership at Leigh Academy Rainham sixth form is key to enabling young people to realise their potential whilst building on necessary skills, confidence and motivation to allow students to engage directly in the wider improvement of the school. Appointed members are trained in public speaking and leadership skills to ensure they can articulate their point of view with great competency; enabling them to be effective in what they set out to achieve.’
